We keep your information safe and use it to give you the best care. Healthcare staff share your details in a secure system to support your treatment.
Why We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Plan and improve NHS services.
- Link information from your GP, hospital, and community care to give a full picture.
- Compare care in different areas to see what works best.
Your name is not shared. We use details like your NHS number and postcode to link records securely.

Summary Care Record
Your Summary Care Record (SCR) holds important details like:
- Medicines you take.
- Allergies.
- Bad reactions to medicines.
Authorised staff can see this when they care for you.
If you are happy with this, you do not need to do anything.
If you would like to opt-out please complete the SCR Opt-out form and hand this to reception or email this to us at: wlmc.patientenquiries@nhs.net

The national data opt-out allows a patient to choose if they do not want their confidential patient information to be used for purposes beyond their individual care and treatment – for research and planning. Patients, or people acting for them by proxy, have control over setting or changing their own opt-out choice, and can change their mind at any time.
You can choose if your confidential information is used for research and planning. You can change your choice anytime.

We offer convenient ways to access care without visiting the practice.
You can start by completing a Blinx Online Consultation Form. This allows you to tell us about your symptoms or request help.
After reviewing your form, a GP or clinician may:
- Send advice by text message or email
- Offer a telephone consultation
- Arrange a video consultation if needed
All virtual consultations follow strict NHS confidentiality and security standards. Your information is kept safe at all times.
Photographs
You may need to send a photo as part of your care. This can happen in two ways:
- Attach a photo to a Blinx Online Consultation Form when you submit your request.
- Reply to a text message with a photo if your GP asks for more information to help with clinical review.
Once we receive your photo:
- It will be added to your medical record and kept secure under the Data Protection Act 2018.
- The photo will only be used for your care and will not be shared for any other purpose.
Please note:
- Your photo may need to be processed by administrative staff before the GP sees it.
- It may also be reviewed by another clinician, not necessarily the one you requested, depending on which doctor or nurse is on duty.
We follow strict NHS confidentiality and security standards to keep your information safe.
AccuRx & BLINX
We use AccuRx and Blinx to make communication with patients easier and faster. These secure NHS-approved systems allow us to:
Send text messages about:
- Appointment bookings and reminders
- Blood test results and other health updates
- Important health advice and administrative information.
Both systems meet strict NHS security and confidentiality standards. Your personal data is protected at all times. Messages are only used for your care and will be stored in your medical record when relevant.
